KG Round-up

 Kindergarten Round-Up: Monday, March 26, 2018

Request Round Up Information

Here is how our information is received:

Lowell receives a list from Early Childhood Screening of incoming students that are in the Lowell boundary and have completed the Early Childhood Screening.  From this list we send  you notification of when our Kindergarten Round-up will be and what you should expect at Round-up.

If your child has not completed the Early Childhood Screening, please contact Kathy Johnson at 218-336-8816 or email ecscreening@isd709.org.  All students must complete an Early Childhood Screening before they can be enrolled in kindergarten.

We are planning a fun-filled event for both the morning and evening round up sessions. Each child will be given a Lowell Lion PRIDE bag as a commemorative gift. Here is what you can expect at Round-up:

  • Time to complete enrollment paperwork
  • Meet the Principal, Secretary, Nurse and teachers

  • Take a commemorative photograph

  • Stop at all information tables

  • Visit the Kindergarten classrooms (English, Ojibwe, and/or Spanish)

  • Tour Lowell Elementary to get a feel for our building and sense of community

  • Visit a school bus

  • Learn more about after school child care

Both sessions will have refreshments available in the cafeteria. During the evening session, childcare will be provided in the media center so you can enjoy this experience with your incoming kindergartener.

Bring With You

In order to be fully enrolled at Lowell, you will need to submit three important documents along with the enrollment form. We will have a copy machine available during our event. Please bring the following with you to the school:

  • Copy of your child's birth certificate (this is a requirement of the State of Minnesota)
  • Copy of your child's immunization records (this is a requirement of the State of Minnesota)
  • Proof of residency (a requirement of the district) Examples:
    • your property tax statement
    • a signed lease
    • a purchase agreement

Lowell is a special location with language immersion options. You can elect to enroll your child in three different kindergarten options.  We offer a traditional English based Kindergarten program, and two language immersion options: Ojibwe and Spanish.  Staff will be on hand to discuss these options with you.

** Please note that MN law requires all students to go through Early Childhood Screening prior to entering Kindergarten.  You may call our ECS office at 218.336.8816 or email ecscreening@isd709.org to set up an appointment.
